Katie Thomas (Virginia Beach, Va.) was honored on Tuesday as the Colonial Athletic Association Women's Swimmer of the Week, the first such award of her career. Thomas' honor was the sixth of the season for the Tribe women's program.
Last weekend at the Cavalier Invitational, Thomas set lifetime-bests in all four events she swam. In her first race of the weekend, she went 2:01.67 in the prelims of the 200 back to rank fifth in school history, and followed up with a time-trial of 52.30 in the 100 free, which makes her 15th all-time at W&M. That evening she finished third in the finals of the 200 back at 2:02.28, and also swam on the Tribe's third-place 200 free relay. Saturday, Thomas timed 58.13 in the prelims of the 100 back to improve to 16th in school history, and closed out the meet that evening with a lifetime-best 1:53.83 in the 200 free.
William and Mary is off this weekend, before heading to the Colonial Athletic Association Championships next week. The conference meet is being held in College Park, Md., with races starting on Wed., Feb. 26, through Sat., March 1.
