The William and Mary women's swimming team opened the season in impressive fashion Saturday morning, downing Mary Washington 203-58 with wins in 13 of 14 events. The Tribe, 1-0, won its season-opener for the first time since 2005-06, and now has 63 victories in the Rec Center all-time.
Complete ResultsThree of the Tribe's 13 victories were due all or in part to the efforts of junior
Megan Howard (McLean, Va.), who won both of her individual efforts and opened the meet on the victorious 200 medley relay. Howard timed 51.38 seconds in the 100 free, and also came back in 200 IM with a 2:11.47 win. Her role on the medley was the butterfly, and she combined with
Liz Glenn (Greenwood Village, Colo.),
Courtney Mizerak (Manassas, Va.), and freshman
Jaimie Miller (Houston, Texas) to win with a time of 1:46.86. Glenn was also the individual winner in one of her highlight events, the 100 back, touching the wall first in 58.88.
Speaking of freshmen, four earned individual wins in their collegiate debut. Perhaps most impressive was
Sophie Rittenhouse (London, England), timing a lifetime-best 2:02.82 in the 200 backstroke to rank sixth in school history after just one race.
Selina Fuller (Henrico, Va.) won the 200 free in 1:55.82, and
Georgie Crompton (Brooklandville, Md.) was first to the wall in the 200 fly, with a time of 2:12.90.
Lauren Yi (Springfield, Va.) snuck in under the minute-mark to claim the 100 fly, stopping the clock in 59.93 seconds.

Noelle Klockner (Marlboro, N.J.),
Greta Schneider (Moorestown, N.J.), and
Sara Shaner (Clarendon Hills, Ill.) into the water. Sophomore
