WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The
William and Mary men's soccer team placed three players on the 2012 All-CAA
preseason team. Junior Will Smith was a
first-team selection, while classmate Roshan Patel and sophomore Michael Teiman
earned honorable mention accolades.
A second-team All-CAA selection last season, Smith enters
his junior campaign as a co-captain and as one of the best defenders in the league. Patel, who was a preseason honorable mention honoree
in 2011, gives the Tribe experience in the backfield. As a freshman, the McLean, Va., native earned
All-CAA rookie-team honors. Sophomore
Michael Teiman garnered rookie-team honors last season, as he started all 18 matches for the Green and Gold in 2011.
Not only did Smith and Teiman land on the preseason
conference squad, but the pair also made their way onto TopDrawerSoccer.com's list of the Top 20 players in the CAA.
As voted on by the league coaches,
W&M was picked to finish fourth this season in the Colonial Athletic
Association. The Tribe, who received 69 points in the voting process, was
tabbed to finish behind Delaware, James Madison and preseason favorite Old
Dominion.
W&M opens the season today, in the
VCU invitational against Butler in an affair slated for 5 p.m. On Sunday, Aug. 26, the College will face in
state foe VCU at 7:30 p.m. The Tribe
opens the home ledger at Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field against Richmond
on Saturday, Sept. 1, at 7 p.m.
