WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The
annual Crapolfest weekend, which celebrates the life of former Tribe soccer
player Andy Crapol, is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 20, in Williamsburg. In its fourth year of existence, this year's
edition of Crapolfest will feature a 5K run, a one-mile fun run/walk, a golf
outing at the Golden Horseshoe and a mini golf event with all proceeds going
towards the Andrew E. Crapol Soccer Scholarship Fund.
Andrew Crapol was a four-year letterwinner
for the William and Mary men's soccer team who lost his battle with cancer
during the spring of 2009. An extremely coachable player, the Williamsburg
native played in 38 career matches for the Tribe, scoring four goals, including
the game-winner against Coastal Carolina during the 1999 season. He graduated
from the College in 2000, earning a degree in economics
Since the inception of Crapolfest, the weekend celebration
alone has raised over 29,000 thousand dollars with all funds benefiting the Andrew
E. Crapol Soccer Scholarship Fund. As of
January 2012, the Andrew E. Crapol Men's Soccer Scholarship Endowment has over
200,000 thousand dollars in its investment fund.
