RICHMOND, Va. - The
No. 21-ranked William and Mary Tribe women's soccer team lost for the first
time in 2011, dropping a contest to the Richmond Spiders, 2-0. With the loss, the Tribe's record falls to 4-1-1

The Spiders wasted little time getting on the board Thursday
night, scoring on its first attack. Off
a corner kick, sophomore Becca Wann got her head to a pass from Liza Koch,
giving UR an early 1-0 advantage with her header.
In the first half, the Tribe took six shots, getting two on
goal. Reigning CAA Rookie of the Week
Emory Camper got a look on frame in the 28th minute, while junior Cortlyn
Bristol had a shot on goal in the 44th.
Both attempts were saved by UR goalie Melissa Pacheco.
In the second half, the Tribe got its first shot on frame in
the 70th minute, when junior back Kiersten Harpe came forward, firing a shot
that forced the Spiders goalie to make a nice save.
In the 85th minute, Wann struck again, padding the Richmond
lead with her second goal of the match.
Wann took a throw in from the left side and was able to get a shot past
the Tribe keeper.
The Tribe had a couple of late chances in the match. Junior Mallory Schaffer hit the post with a
shot in the 87th minute, while freshman Aly Shaughnessy got a shot on frame in
the 89th. Despite the opportunities, the
College was shut out for the first time this season, losing 2-0.
