WEST POINT, N.Y. — William & Mary women's soccer continues its season-opening road swing Thursday, traveling to Army for a 4 p.m. kickoff at Malek Stadium.
The Tribe enters the match following a 1-1 draw at Loyola Maryland in its season opener last Wednesday. Thursday's contest will be streamed on ESPN+.
THE TRIBE. William & Mary opened the 2026 campaign with a 1-1 draw at Loyola Maryland last Wednesday. Sophomore midfielder Mia Abbey scored the Tribe's first goal of the season in the 25th minute, with junior Brooke Oswald and freshman Ava Magnuson picking up assists.
W&M outshot Loyola Maryland, 7-3, and held a 4-2 advantage in shots on goal. Abbey led all players with three shots, including two on frame.
FRESHMAN IMPACT. Ava Magnuson made an immediate impact in her collegiate debut, earning the start at forward and assisting on Mia Abbey's goal in the 25th minute. The Sutton, Mass., native picked up her first career point in her first appearance for the Green and Gold.
Fellow freshmen Capri Reyes and Ashley DeLeo also made their collegiate debuts off the bench. Reyes, a forward, logged 36 minutes, while DeLeo, a defender, recorded a shot in her first appearance.
BETWEEN THE POSTS. William & Mary used two goalkeepers in its season opener. Sophomore Gwen Doughty played the opening 45 minutes, making one save and allowing one goal, before junior Mia Tegeris took over after halftime.
Tegeris kept Loyola Maryland off the scoreboard over the final 45 minutes as the Tribe secured the draw.
THE BLACK KNIGHTS. Army enters Thursday's home opener with an 0-2 record after beginning its season with a two-match road trip in Colorado. The Black Knights fell 4-1 at Air Force in their opener before dropping a 6-0 decision at Colorado on Sunday.
Thursday will be Army's first match of the season at Malek Stadium.
TRIBE VS. BLACK KNIGHTS. William & Mary and Army have split their two previous meetings, with the all-time series tied at 1-1. The programs last met in 2021, when the Black Knights earned a 2-1 victory in West Point.
LOOKING FOR A ROAD WIN. The Tribe will look to snap a road winless streak dating back to 2024. W&M went 0-5-3 away from Williamsburg last season before opening 2026 with a draw at Loyola Maryland. The Tribe's last road victory came in a 3-0 win at Hampton on Sept. 19, 2024.
