WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - After cruising to a 19-6 victory in its season opener against Longwood on Wednesday, the William and Mary lacrosse team will play its first road game of the season when it squares off against second-ranked Duke on Sunday at 3 p.m.
A number of Tribe players posted outstanding performances in the season-opening win against the Lancers. Preseason all-conference selection 
Ashley Holofcener led W&M with six points on a career-high five goals and one assist, while junior 
Mary Zulty equaled a career high with five goals. Senior 
Julia Martin also came up big offensively by equaling career highs in goals (two) and assists (three), while classmate 
Clare Dennis found the back of the net three times. 
The second-ranked Blue Devils are off to a 2-0 start for the eighth straight season after earning wins against No. 19 Denver and California last weekend. Duke defeated the Pioneers, 17-8, to earn its 13th straight season-opening win, while it cruised past the Golden Bears, 19-7. 
Junior Lindsay Gilbride currently leads DU with eight goals and two assists, while seniors Caroline Cryer (five goals, five assists) and Megan Del Monte (six goals, four assists) also both have 10 points apiece. The Duke defense has allowed an average of just 7.5 goals per game, while senior keeper Kim Imbesi has recorded 19 saves.  
Prior to Sunday's contest, Duke will host Richmond in its home opener on Friday evening.
