RICHMOND, Va. – After posting a tremendous senior season, William & Mary lacrosse standout
Paige Gilbert earned second-team all-conference honors by the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA).
The accolade marks the second consecutive season in which Gilbert garnered all-league distinction, as the Doylestown, Pa., native also earned second-team recognition as a junior.
One of the CAA's most outstanding players, Gilbert led W&M in goals (37), points (56) and draw controls (60), while she ranked second on the team in assists (19). Additionally, she ranked ninth in the conference in draw controls per game (3.75), while she was tied for sixth in league-only games (4.25).
Gilbert's 60 draw controls this spring ranks fourth on W&M's single-season list, while her 56 points and 19 assists rank tied for 13th and 16th, respectively.
In addition to leading W&M with eight hat tricks, including five in conference play, Gilbert posted multi-goal efforts in 11 contests. Highlighting her list of performances was an outstanding effort in the win against VCU when she totaled a career-best nine draw controls, which ranks fifth in school history. She also posted a memorable senior day effort in the win against Campbell with a career-high seven points (4g, 3a) to go with eight draw controls.
One of the most prolific players in school history, Gilbert concluded her remarkable career ranked sixth on the program's career draw controls list (128) and 26th on the points list (119 – 90g, 29a). A starter in 56 games, her career stats also included 77 ground balls and 32 caused turnovers.
