Four W&M Men's Soccer Players Earn All-CAA Honors

RICHMOND, VA - Four members of William and Mary's men's soccer team were voted to all-conference honors by the league's head coaches. Senior midfielder Graham Albert (Williamsburg, VA) and senior defender Phil Hucles (Virginia Beach, VA) were picked to the first team, while junior midfielder Bryan Hinkle (Fredericksburg, VA) and sophomore forward Patrick Scherder (Vienna, VA) were selected to the second team.

Albert earns his first selection to the conference's first team, after earning second team honors last year. He is currently tied for second on the team with five goals this season, including game-winners at North Carolina State and Marshall, and also has four assists for 14 points. Hucles was voted to the first team for the second straight year, after being selected to the CAA second team as a freshman and sophomore. He also has five goals and is second on the team with seven assists for a total of 17 points on the year. He ranks eighth in W&M history with 87 career points and is tied for fifth with 36 career goals.

Hinkle and Scherder each earn their first career all-conference honors after having breakout seasons for the Tribe in 2003. Hinkle leads the team with nine assists this season and is second on the club with five goals and 19 points. Entering the week, he was ranked tied for first in the CAA and tied for fourth in the South-Atlantic Re-gion in assists. Scherder leads W&M with 11 goals, 25 points and four game-winning goals, to go with his three assists on the year. Through Monday, he was ranked third in the CAA and 11th in the region in points, and was second in the league and tied for ninth in the region in goals.

W&M currently has a record of 9-6-4 this season after falling to James Madison on Tuesday in the quar-terfinals of the CAA Tournament. The Tribe must now wait until Monday to learn if its season will continue with an at-large berth into the 48-team NCAA Tournament.
