Barrett joined the W&M Athletics Hall of Fame in 2010 after completing a highly successful career for the Green and Gold. After graduating from the College in 1998, Barret went on to a fantastic professional career in Major League Soccer (MLS).

At W&M, Barrett was an offensive force on the pitch, earning All-American honors in 1997. Barrett was also a four-time First-Team All-CAA honoree, as well as a three-time All-South Atlantic Region team member. In the record books, Barrett ranks fourth all-time career goals with 38, sixth in career points with 102, and eighth in career assists with 26. During his four years in Williamsburg, Barrett saw his teams make three NCAA Tournament appearances and win two CAA titles.

After graduation, Barrett achieved success both within the U.S. and abroad in professional soccer, has won three MLS Cup Championships, while playing with the San Jose Earthquakes in 2001 and the Houston Dynamo in 2006 and 2007. He captained his last two Dynamo squads to back-to-back titles. Barrett, who is currently the captain of the Dynamo, has spent nine seasons in MLS with San Jose and then Houston. Barrett has appeared in and started over 200 matches for the Dynamo. He retired from professional soccer in 2010 and currently serves as an assistant coach for the Dynamo. Along with his success in the MLS, Barrett has made appearances with both the U.S. Youth National Teams throughout his career as well as earning International caps with the U.S. Men?s National Team.
