Julian Ngoh Earns United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-Region Honors

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary men's soccer senior Julian Ngoh was named United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-South Region on Monday. He garnered his first scholar all-region award in garnering a spot on the region's third team.

To earn a spot on the scholar all-region team, a student-athlete must have 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) or better throughout career; started more than 50% of all games and significantly contribute to their team; be junior or above in academic standing; and, if a transfer student, be in second year at school. Ngoh was one of eight Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) players to earn scholar all-region honors. It marks the fourth-straight season that a W&M student-athlete was recognized, and he is the sixth Tribe player during that stretch to earn the distinction.

A finance major, Ngoh came on strong and earned a spot on the All-CAA Second Team. He finished the year ranked fourth in the league in goals (8) and points (18). Ngoh was fifth in the CAA with two game-winners.

In the CAA Quarterfinals, Ngoh recorded his second brace of the season, scoring twice just over five minutes apart in the first half of W&M's 4-1 win over Northeastern. He also notched a pair of goals in the regular-season victory over Delaware on Oct. 22. In the regular-season finale, Ngoh converted a second-half penalty kick in the Tribe's 3-2 upset win over No. 21-ranked James Madison on Nov. 2. He started all 18 matches in 2019 and topped W&M with 18 points on eight goals and two assists.

As a team, the Tribe finished with seven wins and earned a spot in the CAA Tournament and advanced to at least the semifinals for a fourth-straight season. The Green and Gold was the event's No. 4 seed after going 4-3-1 in league play. Included in the Tribe's season was a 1-1 draw with then-No. 24 and eventual NCAA Tournament team NC State on Sept. 10 and a 3-2 overtime win at No. 21-ranked and CAA Champion James Madison on Nov. 2.
