WILLIAMSBURG, Va.— After claiming runner-up accolades at The Goat, William & Mary standout Preston Burton was honored as the CAA Co-Men's Golfer of the Week.
 
En route to helping lead W&M to a third-place finish at the 14-team tournament hosted by Navy, Burton tied for medalist honors but was edged in a playoff.
 
Burton entered the final round tied for fourth but ascended the leaderboard with a 2-under 69 during the final day to finish with a 2-under 211 (69-73-69). The Charlottesville, Va., native carded three birdies on the closing back nine to finish 54 holes atop the leaderboard with Connecticut's Kai Jun Huang, who won the individual title on the third playoff hole, and Georgetown's Carson Erick.
 
In addition to his impressive finish on Sunday, Burton also recorded five birdies during his 2-under 69 opening round on Saturday.
 
The Charlottesville, Va., native shares this week's CAA honor with Drexel's Harry Cohen.
 
Burton's impressive performance at The Goat marked his second consecutive top-20 finish, as he tied for 16th with an even-par 216 at the season-opening Bryan National Collegiate.  

The Tribe will return to action when it competes at the WVU Nemacolin College Invitational on Oct. 5-6.
