Men's Basketball Set for CAA Quarterfinals vs. Hofstra

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Following its 20th win of the season on Saturday night, William & Mary men's basketball is back in action at the 2026 Air Force Reserve CAA Championship against No. 3 seed Hofstra on Sunday night. Tip-off is set for 8:30 p.m. from CareFirst Arena in Washington, D.C., and the game will be broadcast on FloCollege with Dave Ryan and Mack McCarthy on the call. .

Fans can listen into the Tribe Sports Network with Jay Colley and Brandon Britt '14 on the call. The Tide 92.3 FM in Williamsburg in the flagship station of the Tribe Sports Network.

W&M News and Notes
 
- W&M and Hofstra meet for the second time this season with the Tribe owning an 89-82 win in Williamsburg on Jan. 24. Games between the Tribe and Pride have been close over the years with 17 of the last 34 meetings, dating back to 2010, being decided by six or fewer points, including 11 contests decided by a single possession.
 
- The Tribe and Pride have met five times in the CAA Tournament with Hofstra owning a 4-1 advantage. W&M's win in the CAA tourney came in double OT, 92-91, in 2015. It was the first of two-straight highly competitive semifinals between the teams with the Pride winning, 70-67, in 2016. The teams met in the 2011 and 2023 quarterfinals as well.
 
- W&M won its first game as a No. 6 seed on Saturday night. It will now look for its first victory vs. a No. 3 seed. The Tribe is winless in eight tries against a No. 3 seed in the CAA Tourney. In the history of the league championship, the No. 3 seed holds a 26-11 record against the No. 6 seed.
 
- With its victory over Elon, W&M claimed its 20th win of the season. It marked the 10th time in program history that the Tribe has won 20 games in the season, and its first since 2020. The Green and Gold has won 21 or more game in a season on just four occasions.
 
- Saturday's win was head coach Brian Earl  37th in his first two seasons at W&M. The total is tied for the most for a Tribe head coach through his first two seasons along with Bernard Wilson in 1947-48 and 1948-49.
 
- Junior Tunde Vahlberg Fasasi equaled his career-high with 25 points in the win over Elon. He also scored 25 points in the Tribe's win at home vs. ODU in November. Vahlberg Fasasi's four games of 20-plus points this season are tied for the team best. He also connected on five 3-pointers against the Phoenix, which was a career high. Over the last four games, Vahlberg Fasasi is averaging 16.7 points per game while shooting 60% (18-of-30) from the field and 52.9% (9-of-17) from 3.
 
- W&M totaled 13 steals in the win over Elon, which was the most for a Tribe team in a CAA Tournament game. Senior Chase Lowe and graduate student Jhei-R Jones led the team with four steals apiece. The Tribe's 254 steals this season rank second in program history.
 
- In Saturday's win, the Tribe forced Elon into 19 turnovers and converted those into 29 points. W&M ranks 29th nationally, forcing opponents into 14.4 turnovers per game, and is scoring 17.6 points per game off opponent miscues.
 
- W&M continues to use the free throw line to its advantage, hitting 20-of-28 (71.4%) in the victory over Elon. Over the last four games, W&M is shooting 77% (104-of-135) at the free throw line and averaging 26 made free throws per game. W&M connected on 30 or more free throws in a game three times in CAA play, including a school-record total of 34 vs. Campbell on Jan. 31.
 
- The Tribe ranks 20th nationally at 18.8 made free throws per game and is scoring 22.9% of its points at the charity stripe, which ranks 48th in the country. W&M's 583 free throws made ranks third in school history and is the most since 1958.
 
- Bench scoring has been a staple for Brian Earl's teams. This season, the Tribe is averaging 34.9 points per game from its reserves, which leads the CAA and ranks fifth in the country. Earl-coached teams have ranked among the top 10 nationally each of the last four years in bench scoring.
 
- Senior Chase Lowe was named the recipient of CAA's prestigious Dean Ehlers Leadership Award, which recognizes the player that, "embodies the highest standards of leadership, integrity and sportsmanship in conjunction with his academic and athletic achievement." It marks the seventh time since the award was established in 1995 that W&M has received the award, which is tied for the most in CAA history with UNCW.
 
- Junior Reese Miller has been on a scoring tear recently, averaging 15 points over the last 10 games. He has scored in double figures in nine of the last 12 games. Miller, who scored a season-high 26 at Campbell, is the Tribe's leading scorer at 12.3 per game, which ranks 21st in the CAA.
 
- Lowe played in his 120th career game vs. Elon, which ranks 10th in W&M history. He also became just the third player in program history with 1,000 points, 600 rebounds, and 300 assists in a career. He ranks 12th in program history in assists (328) and 13th in rebounding (645).
 
- The Tribe is on pace to break the school record for points scored in a season. W&M currently has 2,599 total points, which ranks second in school history, and is only 38 away from breaking the record of 2,636 from 2018.
 
- W&M is once again among the fastest-paced teams in the country. According to KenPom.com (as of March 7), the Tribe leads the country in fastest average length of possession on offense (13.6 seconds) and ranks fifth in adjusted tempo (72.8).
 
- W&M has been one of the best teams in the country in terms of sharing the basketball. W&M is averaging 18.2 assists per game this season, which leads the CAA and ranks 12th in the country. The Tribe's assist average and 565 total assists are school records. W&M is also ninth nationally in assist rate, assisting on 64.1% of its field goals.
