Humphreys Leads Tribe to Comeback Win Over Old Dominion, 6-3

NORFOLK, Va. — A three-RBI day from Jett Humphreys sparked William & Mary's come-from-behind win over Old Dominion on Tuesday as the Tribe erased a three-run deficit to down the Monarchs 6-3 on Tuesday at Bud Metheny Ballpark.

Old Dominion (11-12) struck first on the strength of Zach Leite's two-run double in the first inning. The Monarchs tacked on another run in the third to go ahead 3-0.

W&M (11-12) wasted no time responding in the top of the fourth. After Chase Ecker drew a bases-loaded walk for the Tribe's first run, Humphreys singled up the middle to score two and tie the game at 3-3.

Charlie Richwine came on in relief and dealt scoreless innings in the fourth and fifth to keep the game even. The Green & Gold took the lead for the first time in the top of the sixth when Humphreys delivered an RBI single to drive in Charlie Iriotakis.

After Richwine got the first out of the sixth, Jack Weight ended the frame with a strikeout and flyout as he left a runner on base. Weight stayed on the mound for the seventh, working around a two-out single to hold the Monarchs scoreless.

In the eighth, the Tribe picked up two key insurance runs, taking advantage of an ODU throwing error on a bunt advancement that allowed Jackson Woolwine to score. Kevin Francella tacked on a sacrifice fly to put W&M ahead 6-3.

Tom Bourque closed out the final two innings on the mound, retiring all six of the batters he faced with a pair of strikeouts to earn the save. Richwine was credited with the win after tossing 2 ⅔ scoreless innings.

Patrick Johnson was the losing pitcher for ODU.
