RICHMOND, Va. - William & Mary freshman
Uriah Harris was named the CAA Field Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.
Â
Harris, who was named the field athlete of the week twice during the indoor season, took home the first accolade of the outdoor campaign behind a strong performance at the Phoenix Invitational on March 13. The Richmond, Va., native won the discus with a toss of 55.83m (183-2) on his penultimate attempt. It ranks as the best mark in the country this season.
Â
His discus throw also topped the previous W&M freshman record of 52.60m (172-7) from KJ Cook in 2018. It is the third-best in program history, trailing only Taylor Frenia's 58.70m (192-7) at the 2017 CAA Championships and Cook's 56.73m (186-1) at the 2019 NCAA Championships. Harris placed third in the hammer throw as well at the Phoenix Invitational with a mark of 50.08m (164-3).
