Baseball Finishes Road Swing at Longwood

WILLIAMSBURG, VA. — William & Mary baseball wraps up a four-game road trip as it visits Longwood on Tuesday evening. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. at Buddy Bolding Stadium.

FAST AND FURIOUS
William & Mary set the modern-era single-game program record with 10 steals on Saturday at Georgetown. OF Chase Ecker led the way with four swipes, tying the single-game individual record held by Tribe Hall of Famer Chris Rahl. Each stolen base came from the seventh inning on.

MILESTONE REACHED
INF Jamie Laskofski recorded his 100th career hit over the weekend at Georgetown. He became the second-fastest player in the modern era to accomplish the feat, doing it in just 72 games. Laskofski is riding a career-long nine-game hitting streak and 17-game on-base streak. The sophomore leads the CAA in runs (24), walks (17), and triples (three) while ranking second in slugging (.667).

LIGHTS OUT
RHP Stephen Christopher made his first career start on Saturday, holding Georgetown scoreless over 2 ⅓ innings with a pair of strikeouts. It marked the sixth straight scoreless outing for the freshman, who owns a team-best 0.82 ERA with a .139 opponents batting average.

JETT HAS ARRIVED
RHP/INF Jett Humphries recorded his first career hit on Friday, going 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles. The two-way freshman went 3-for-10 with three doubles and three runs over the weekend. He also pitched a pair of scoreless innings at #14 Virginia on Tuesday.

BACK TO BACK
INF Matthew Kosuda earned back-to-back CAA Rookie of the Week honors (Feb. 23 and March 2). Kosuda batted .400 (4-for-10) with six runs scored and eight RBI in W&M's sweep of Lafayette. On Friday, Kosuda hit a game-tying three-run homer in the seventh inning to spark a comeback win over Lafayette as he collected four RBI.

FRESHMEN LEAD THE WAY
Eight freshmen have thrown innings on the mound for the Tribe this season, the most in the CAA (Charleston is second with five). Rookie RHP Stephen Christopher leads the team with a 0.82 ERA, while RHP Jack Pye leads the team in innings pitched with 18.2.

STAT NUGGETS
- INF Matthew Kosuda ranks second in the CAA in RBI with 19.

- OF Charlie Iriotakis extended his hitting streak to seven games over the weekend, including a solo homer in Saturday's 8-2 victory.

- OF Chase Ecker is 12-for-12 stealing on the basepaths this season, ranking fourth in the CAA for steals.

- RHP Luke Calveric has made six starts this season, ranking second-most in the nation behind New Mexico State's Colton Sneddon (seven).

- INF Trey Christman has seven hits and seven RBI in his last four games, including two home runs and 14 total bases.

- Two Tribe pitchers had career firsts at Georgetown. LHP Tom Bourque picked up his first win with three scoreless innings in relief in Saturday's 8-2 victory. On Sunday, RHP Daniel Lingle recorded his first save in a 7-3 win.

- OF Sam Kaczmarek picked up his first collegiate hit on Saturday at Georgetown with a double in the third, part of a 2-for-3 day. He also stole three bases.

MOVING UP THE LEADERBOARDS
The Tribe ranks second in the CAA and 21st in Division I with 48 stolen bases, averaging 2.67 per game. It also leads the league with seven triples.

DOUBLE TROUBLE
W&M swept the CAA weekly awards for Feb. 23 as INF Jamie Laskofski was named the CAA Player of the Week while INF Matthew Kosuda earned CAA Rookie of the Week honors.

CHOPPIN' EM DOWN
LHP Tom Bourque set a career-high in strikeouts (six) and innings pitched (4.0) in his start vs. Binghamton on Feb. 21. The redshirt junior shut out the Bearcats and allowed just one hit with no walks in the Tribe's 5-4 win.

TRIPLES ALLEY
The Tribe hit three triples in game one of the Feb. 21 doubleheader against Binghamton. It was the most triples in a game since slugging out four on Feb. 22, 2020 against Fairleigh Dickinson.

WELCOME INTRODUCTION
DH Liam O'Neil went yard in his first at-bat as a member of the Tribe, blasting a two-run homer in the second inning at Virginia Tech. He became the first Tribe player to hit a home run in his first AB with the team since Nic Britt did it on Feb. 28, 2021 at Charlotte.
