Historic Performance Lifts Women’s Gymnastics Over Alaska, 194.650-192.675

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary women's gymnastics team posted the ninth-best score in school history en route to earning an impressive 194.650 – 192.675 victory against Alaska in its regular-season finale at Kaplan Arena on Saturday afternoon.
 
In addition to the outstanding team total, W&M also equaled the program's 10th-best score ever on floor (48.975) and recorded season highs on vault (48.675) and bars (48.475). The Tribe defeated the Seawolves in all four events.
 
The triumph marked W&M's third consecutive victory to close out the regular season, as it won the HBCU Classic last weekend and defeated Alaska in a dual meet on Thursday.
 
The Tribe claimed the top three scores in a pair of events, sweeping honors on bars and floor. Michelle Ngo won the bars title with a career-high 9.775, while Ascha Laird (9.725) and Catherine Bare (9.700) placed second and third, respectively. Hannah Burke and Sally Wood tied for first on floor with a 9.825, while Ngo and Ashley Ruedy tied for third with a 9.800. Wood's score was a career high in the event, while Ngo's was her best mark of the season.
 
Sophia Summers also came up big with a pair of second-place finishes on vault (9.775, career high) and beam (9.775).
 
Catherine Bare (9.750, career high) and Madeline Frazier (9.750) also earned top-three performances, placing third on vault and beam, respectively.
