Swimming Meet Against Johns Hopkins Moved up to Friday

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — William & Mary swimming will take on Johns Hopkins in its final dual meet of the season this weekend. Due to impending inclement weather, the meet has been moved up to Friday at 4 p.m. from the Barbara & Jerry Procton Pool in Baltimore.

The action will be streamed on the Centennial Conference Digital Network. Fans can also follow live results on the MeetMobile App.

LAST TIME OUT
The Tribe split its dual meet at Davidson on Jan. 17, picking up a dominant 205-89 victory on the women's side while the men's team fell in a competitive meet by the score of 148-140.

The Tribe had 21 event victories for the day, including a sweep of all four relay events between the 200 medley relay and 400 free relay. Several younger swimmers showed out, including sophomore Beck Hastings, who paced the field in the 100 butterfly with a time of 49.54. In the 200 back, Grace McCadle won with a time of 2:01.39 to pace the women while Thomas Duncan clocked in at 1:51.02 to lead the men.

STARTING OFF
  • W&M swept the CAA weekly awards for the week of Jan. 13, with Aiden Bond and Lauren Tucker being recognized as the CAA Men's and Women's Swimmer of the Week, respectively.
  • Bond secured two individual victories and a relay win at the Tribe Quad Meet. The junior continues to hold the fastest time in the 50 free (19.73) and 100 free (43.55) this season.
  • So far this year, William & Mary has broken two school records, 12 dual meet records, and eight Rec Center pool records.
  • Julie Addison is pacing the league in the 50 back at 24.82, followed by Sarah Dunham at 25.33. Addison also holds the fastest time in the 100 back (53.34).
  • Lindsay Juhlin is leading the CAA in all three breast events (50, 100, 200).
  • The Tribe has the fastest 200 medley relay time in the CAA at 1:39.25 thanks to Addison, Juhlin, Lauren Klinefelter, and Caroline Burgeson.
  • Freshman Tyler Barritt has been off to a strong start for the men, posting the fifth-best time ever in the 1000 free (9:23.65) at George Washington. Barritt has already registered top-16 performances in three different events (500 free, 1000 free, 1650 free).

MEET HISTORY
W&M swept Johns Hopkins in Williamsburg last year, winning 169-93 on the men's side and 203.5-58.5 on the women's. The Tribe women are 13-1 all-time in dual meets against the Blue Jays while the men are 6-5.

The Green & Gold will travel to Charlottesville, Va. for the Cavalier Invitational on Feb. 5-7 at UVA's Aquatic and Fitness Center.
