Women’s Swimming Dominant at Davidson

DAVIDSON, N.C. — William & Mary swimming split its dual meet at Davidson on Saturday afternoon, picking up a dominant 205-89 victory on the women's side while the men's fell in a competitive meet by the score of 148-140.

The Tribe had 21 event victories for the day, including a sweep of all four relay events between the 200 medley relay and 400 free relay.

W&M dominated the freestyle events, with Lauren Tucker leading the way. The junior picked up victories in the 500 free (4:58.55) and 1000 free (10:09.39).

Sophomore Ellie Hunt posted the fastest time in the 200 free, clocking in at 1:52.01. On the men's side, Aiden Bond registered the fastest times in the 50 free (20.21) and 100 free (44.60). Flynn Truskett also added a victory in the 50 free, posting a time of 23.69.

Several younger swimmers showed out, including sophomore Beck Hastings, who paced the field in the 100 butterfly with a time of 49.54. Lauren Klinefelter led the way for the Tribe women, finishing in 54.75.

Klinefelter also placed first in the 200 fly, posting a time of 2:02.60. The senior had two individual victories, in addition to her contributions to the 200 medley relay.

The Green & Gold also swept the 200 back, with Grace McCardle finishing in 2:01.39 to pace the women and Thomas Duncan clocking in at 1:51.02 to lead the men.

In the 200 IM, Tess Lankford finished in 2:02.62 to place first. Other notable performances included Kaitlin Conover-Emmert's time of 2:18.49 to win the 200 breast, along with Brock Rempe winning the 100 breast at 55.40.

UP NEXT
The Tribe will return to Baltimore, Md. for a dual meet at Johns Hopkins on Jan. 31. The events get underway at 1 p.m. from the Newton White Athletic Center.
