TRIBE NOTES
Last Time Out
The Tribe battled to a 1-1 draw on Sunday at Towson for its second consecutive draw to begin conference play. The Tigers drew blood first with a goal in the 5
th minute before the Green and Gold found the equalizer before halftime.
Brooke Oswald stole a pass in the 38
th minute and found
Ellie Leffler all alone in the box. The freshman beat the keeper for her first career goal to make it 1-1. Shots were even on the day, 10-10.
Gwen Doughty made three saves in goal including a big stop on a Towson penalty kick to keep the hosts off the board.
Good Work Rook
Freshman
Gwen Doughty earned CAA Rookie of the Week honors for her efforts in goal during the first week of CAA play. The Woodbridge, Va. native made nine total saves on the week, making six and collecting a clean sheet in the 0-0 draw at Drexel. She followed that up with the three saves at Towson, including the penalty kick. The honor was the Tribe's first CAA award of the 2025 regular season.
Wilson's Hot Start
Whenever the Tribe has generated an attack this season there has been a good chance that
Lindsay Wilson is involved. The junior netted her team-leading fourth goal against the Virginia Tech and is now up to nine points in the first eight games. Wilson has already surpassed her career-high in both goals and points, topping her freshman season where she had seven points off two goals and three assists. She has five points over the five games for W&M.
Ivey in Action
After being held without a point in the first three games of the year, preseason All-CAA selection
Ivey Crain has found her stride for the Tribe with three goals. The senior from Milton, Ga. is a three-time All-CAA selection and has led the Tribe in scoring in each of her first three collegiate seasons. Her 26 career goals leave her six away from top 10 all-time in program history. Notably, World Cup winning coach Jill Ellis is the benchmark for that threshold with 32 goals.
Career First for Ellie
The goal for
Ellie Leffler against Towson was the first of her college career in her ninth career game. She became the third Tribe player to score her first career goal this season, joining
Sheridan Brummett and
Brooke Oswald. The assist that Oswald recorded on Leffler's goal on Sunday was her first helper of her career as well.
Scouting the Phoenix
Elon comes to Williamsburg with an impressive 6-1-3 mark on the year but is coming off their first loss of the season on Sunday at Stony Brook. The Phoenix is 0-1-1 in CAA play after opening league action with a loss at Hofstra. This will be 12
th meeting all-time between the two sides with Elon leading 4-5-1.
