WILLIAMSBURG, Va.—The Coastal Athletic Association announced William & Mary's
Gwen Doughty as the women's soccer Rookie of the Week on Monday.
Doughty, a freshman keeper from Woodbridge, Va., posted nine saves this past week to only one goal allowed, aiding the Tribe to a pair of draws on the road to begin CAA play.
She collected a season-high six saves and posted her second clean sheet of the year in W&M's 0-0 tie at Drexel on Thursday. Doughty followed that performance up with three more saves, including a crucial stop on a penalty kick, in the Tribe's 1-1 result against Towson on Sunday.
Through 10 appearances she has 36 saves and is only allowing 1.37 goals against per match for the Green and Gold. The honor is the first of her college career and the Tribe's first regular season CAA award of the year.
W&M is back in action on Saturday afternoon, hosting Elon at 1 p.m.
