WILLIAMSBURG, Va.— The William & Mary men's golf team will look to continue its solid season as it heads to the regular season finale, the West Virginia Mountaineer Invitational, on Monday and Tuesday.
The 54-hole event will be hosted at the Pete Dye Golf Club in Bridgeport, W. Va. with the first 36 holes played on Monday and the final round on Tuesday.
Last Time Out
The Tribe shot their way up the leaderboard in the middle of round two at Maryland's Testudo Cup last weekend but couldn't keep pace, settling in for a sixth-place finish with scores of 294-288-294. W&M was led by
Camden Goldknopf's top 10 effort. The freshman posted a 2-under 70 in the second round to total even-par for the weekend and a T-10 finish.
Max Johnson joined him in the top 20, coming in a tie for 18
th at 2-over.
Consistent Results
Tim Pemberton's team has been very consistent this season, finishing in the top-six in six of the season's eight events. Since the calendar has flipped to 2025 the Tribe has been scoring nicely as well. W&M has yet to post a score higher than 297 this spring and are averaging 291.1 in its nine rounds this spring.
The Course
Playing to a par of 72 at 7,308 yards, Pete Dye Golf Club is undoubtedly one of the more rugged and challenging tests ever crafted by famous architect Pete Dye. The course challenges players with the fairways that twist and turn through the natural terrain of the Appalachian Mountains with plenty of risk and reward tempting competitors throughout. Sprawled over 250 acres, the track weaves around mining remnants and is ranked 64
th in Golf Digest's ranking of America's Top 100 Courses. Dye's masterpiece also ranks 18
th in Golfweek's list of the Best Modern Courses. The Pete Dye Golf Club opened in 1995.
