A Look at the Tribe
After earning a 17-11 victory against Monmouth in its last outing, the Tribe enters Sunday's matchup with a 5-5 overall record and a 1-2 mark in conference action.
Paige Gilbert (21g, 15) leads the Tribe with 36 points, while
Anna Dawson (29g, 4a) and
Ainsley Huizenga (14g, 17a) have also provided outstanding production offensively.
Kate Draddy has also come up big with a team-high 35 draw controls and 25 points (19g, 6a). Draddy also ranks 11th nationally in shooting percentage (.613).
Dawson ranks fifth in the CAA in goals per game (2.9), while Gilbert ranks eighth in points per game (3.6) and assists per game (1.5). Huizenga ranks tied for fifth in assists per game (1.7).
Huizenga (1.7) and Gilbert (1.5) rank fifth and eight, respectively, in assists per contest.
Draddy (3.5) and Gilbert (3.2) also rank among the conference's top 10 in draw controls per game, while Draddy is also tied for fourth in ground balls per game (2.6).
Goalie
Marin Wilhelm is third in saves per contest (8.8).
As a team, W&M ranks third in the CAA in assists per game (5.5), ground balls per game (18.2) and fewest turnovers per game (13.5). Additionally, the Tribe's ground balls average ranks 25th nationally.
Scouting Stony Brook
Ranked 19th nationally, Stony Brook enters the weekend having won four of its last five games and owns a 7-3 overall record and a 2-0 mark in CAA action. The Seawolves lead the conference and rank ninth nationally in scoring defense (8.7), while they also lead the league and rank 15th in the country in points per game (21.9).
Individually, Charlotte Wilmoth leads SBU with 42 points (33g, 9a), while Caey Colbert (9g, 26a), Isabella Caporuscio (25g, 7a) and Riley McDonald (27g, 3a) have also come up big offensively. Caporuscio's stat line also includes 43 draw controls and 21 caused turnovers. Defensively, Avery Hines ranks third nationally in caused turnovers per game (3.4).

W&M-SBU All-Time Series
W&M and Stony Brook have met just twice, as the Seawolves won 20-6 at SBU in 2023 and 21-8 in Williamsburg last season.
Last Meeting vs. Stony Brook
W&M fell to No. 15 Stony Brook, 21-8, at Martin Family Stadium last season. The contest was knotted at 2-2 midway through the first quarter following goals by
Paige Gilbert and
Ainsley Huizenga, but SBU closed the half with 12 unanswered scores. The Tribe opened the second half with back-to-back goals by Gilbert and
Kate Draddy to cut the margin to 14-4, but the Seawolves responded with a 4-0 run. W&M outscored SBU, 4-3, during the fourth quarter but was unable to get any closer than the final margin. Gilbert led W&M with two goals and three draw controls, while Draddy added two points (1g, 1a), three draw controls and two caused turnovers.
Last Time Out
W&M earned an impressive 17-11 victory against Monmouth at Martin Family Stadium on Monday afternoon. Although W&M led by just two, 10-8, entering the fourth quarter, it outscored the Hawks 7-3 during the final 15 minutes of action en route to earning the conference win.
Sophia Chiodo Ortiz scored a career-high four goals, coming on just five shots, and led a balanced attack for W&M as nine different players found the back of the cage.
Paige Gilbert also recorded a hat trick and posted four points (3g, 1a) with four draw controls.
Claire Doto totaled career highs in caused turnovers (3) and draw controls (6) to go with three ground balls, while goalie
Marin Wilhelm posted 11 saves and a .500 save percentage.
Record Watch
Senior
Ainsley Huizenga currently ranks sixth all-time at W&M in draw controls (120) and needs just three more to pass Sarah Jonson for fifth in the Tribe's all-time record book.
Kate Draddy ranks eighth at W&M with 114 draw controls and needs just two more to pass Colleen Dalon for seventh. Goalie
Marin Wilhelm is also closing in on the program's career top-10 list for saves and is tied for 11th with 216. Debby Petracca ranks 10th (263).
Success on the Road
W&M is off to 3-2 start on the road this season and needs just one more victory away from Williamsburg to match its best total since 2019.
Tightly Contested
Three of the Tribe's games this season have been decided by no more than two goals, as it defeated Coastal Carolina (13-11) and High Point (18-17), while it was edged by George Washington (10-9).
Overtime Success
The Tribe has won four of its last six OT games dating back to 2019.
One for the Record Books
Ainsley Huizenga and
Paige Gilbert etched their names into W&M's record book during the win against VCU, as both standouts posted a pair of the best performances in program history. Huizenga equaled a single-game school record with six assists, while Gilbert's career-best nine draw controls ranks tied for fifth in school history. Additionally,
Anna Dawson scored a career-high six goals, which ranks just outside W&M's top-10 list.
CAA Player of the Week Honors
A trio of Tribe standouts have earned CAA weekly honors this season, as
Kate Draddy (offensive player of the week, 2/10),
Marin Wilhelm (defensive player of the week, 2/10) and
Alexis Savage (rookie of the week, 3/10) have all garnered the distinction.

W&M Athletics was once again recognized for its academic excellence as it recorded the highest Federal Graduation Rate (FGR) among all Division I public institutions. Lax helped lead the way and earned a 100% GSR for the seventh straight season.
