W&M News and Notes

- Tuesday's game is the Tribe's second of three on the road against the Atlantic 10 Conference this season. It marks the 17th-straight season and 28th year in the last 30 that W&M has played an A-10 foe. The Tribe plays multiple A-10 teams in the same season for just the seventh time. Head coach Brian Earl is 3-2 in his career against the A-10, including two wins on the road.

- W&M is currently riding a five-game win streak. It marks the second win streak of five or more games under head coach Brian Earl. It is the program's first five-game streak in the nonconference play since 2017-18. The Tribe last had a longer nonconference streak of eight games in 2009-10.

- Thanks to five-straight victories, the Tribe is off to its best start to a season at 7-2 in the last 16 years. It is the best start since the program won 10-straight and started 10-2 in 2009-10.

- Juniors Tunde Vahlberg Fasasi and Kilian Brockhoff provided the Tribe with a lift vs. Old Dominion, becoming the first teammates in two years to score 20 or more points in the same game. Vahlberg Fasasi erupted for a career-high 25 points, while Brockhoff had a career-best 21 in the victory. Over the Tribe's last two victories, the duo is averaging 19.5 and 17.5 points per game, respectively.

- W&M has jumped 91 spots in the KenPom ratings, as of Dec. 1, to No. 140. The improvement is the eighth biggest in the country. The Tribe was 71st in the initial NCAA NET Rankings released on Monday. It marks the W&M's highest standing since the tool was introduced in 2018-19 and is the best currently in the CAA.

- With its wins over UTEP and Abilene Christian, W&M was one of only two teams, out of 10, at the Jacksonville Classic to go 2-0. The Tribe was declared co-champions with UAB. Following his 20-point effort in the win over ACU, graduate student Cade Haskins was named to the all-tournament team.

- Playing without its top-two scorers, Reese Miller and Kyle Pulliam, for the majority of the last two games,  W&M showed its balance to extend its win streak. The Tribe put six players in double figures vs. Abilene Christian and had four with 15 or more vs. ODU.  At least four players have scored in double digits in seven of the first nine games and nine are averaging at least six points per game, including four in double figures.

- W&M has been turning over opponents at a significant rate and converting those into points this season. The Tribe leads the CAA and ranks 25th nationally in forced turnovers per game (16.4), while averaging 20.7 points per game off turnovers.

- Bench scoring has been a staple for head coach Brian Earl's teams. This season, the Tribe is averaging 35.4 points per game from its reserves, which ranks 33rd in the country, as of Dec. 1. W&M ranks 26th nationally in % of minutes off the bench (41.4) according to KenPom.com. Last season, the Tribe ranked eighth nationally in bench scoring (31.9) after Earl's final Cornell team led the country in 2023-24 (36.0).

According to KenPom.com (as of Dec. 1), the Tribe leads the country in fastest average length of possession on offense (13.5 seconds) and ranks third in adjusted tempo (75.8). Last season, the Tribe ranked third in fastest average length of possession (14.9) and 18th in adjusted tempo  (71.5). In each of the last five seasons, Brian Earl-coached teams have ranked top 5 nationally in average possession length and top 25 in adjusted tempo.

- The Tribe is averaging 9.2 steals per game on the year, which leads the CAA and ranks 51st nationally. Brockhoff ranks eighth in the CAA at 1.4 per game, while Pulliam is 15th (1.3) and Vahlberg Fasasi is 20th (1.3). In its first season under Earl in 2024-25, W&M finished with the fourth most steals in school history.
