NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The William & Mary women's gymnastics team placed second at the season-opening MLK Invitational hosted by Fisk University on Monday afternoon.
Rutgers claimed the team title with a 194.900 and was followed by W&M (191.400), Fisk (190.025) and Wilberforce (170.225)
The Tribe's score marked its best season-opening total since posting a 192.150 in 2019 at a quad meet hosted by Towson.
Caroline Blatchford highlighted the Tribe's individual performances by tying for first on beam with a 9.800, which nearly matched her career high in the event.
Melanie Faulkner also came up big and placed third on beam with a career-best 9.775.
Michelle Ngo nearly posted a top-three finish on bars and placed fourth with a 9.725.
In addition to recording the meet's second-best team total, W&M also earned the second-highest team scores on three of the four events – vault (47.675), bars (47.750) and floor (48.025).

W&M will return to action when it hosts Temple at Kaplan Arena for its home opener on Jan. 27.
