Swimming Takes Down ODU at Tribe Quad Meet

HAMPTON, Va. — Returning to action for the first time in over a month, the William & Mary swimming teams scored three wins at the Tribe Quad Meet on Saturday morning at the Hampton Aquaplex, defeating Old Dominion 143-119 on the men's side and 212-49 on the women's side. The Tribe women also secured a 205-90 victory over Central Connecticut State, while falling to East Carolina.

In total, W&M had 11 event winners.

The 200 medley relay team of Julie Addison, Ellie Scherer, Lindsay Juhlin, and Caroline Burgeson started the day strong with a first-place time of 1:43.58. The men's team — composed of Logan McDonald, Brock Rempe, Alex Valliere, and Aiden Bond — also won with a time of 1:30.60.

In the distance events, Lauren Tucker put together an impressive performance in the 1000 freestyle as she finished in 10:32.10 to lead the pack. In the 200 freestyle, David Yune was victorious with a final time of 1:41.46.

Competing in the 100 backstroke, Addison finished first as she clocked in at 56.96. The men's duo of Micah Lowe (51.64) and Thomas Duncan (51.88) finished second and third, respectively.

Other first-place finishers included Rempe (100 breaststroke) and Bond (50 and 100 freestyle). The men's team dominated the 100 freestyle, taking the top four spots in the race.

Duncan added another win for the Tribe with his performance in the 200 backstroke at 1:52.63.

In the 100 butterfly, Juhlin timed out at 56.15 to lead the field. Sophia Heilen finished right behind her at 56.97. On the men's side of the 100 fly, McDonald was a winner with his time of 50.18.

UP NEXT
W&M will host Davidson at the Bee McLeod Recreation Center on Saturday, Jan. 18. The meet will get underway at noon.
