TRIBE NOTES

Last Time Out
Despite leading in shots 11-9, the Tribe dropped a 2-0 contest to Princeton on Sunday in Williamsburg. The Tigers used goals in the 27th and 84th minute to get the road win.

Shooting Our Shot
The Tribe have not been shy about firing shot attempts this season, outshooting their opponent in six of the first seven games. The total shot margin on the years favors W&M a whopping 111-52, with shots on goal being 54-23. The only team to have outshot the Tribe this season is VCU in a game that W&M scored twice in the final five minutes to win 2-1.

Prime-time Players
Peyton Costello and Ivey Crain have provided W&M with game-winning goals in all four Tribe wins, having two each. Costello and Crain are the only players in the CAA with multiple game-winning goals so far this season. Crain also leads the conference in shots per game with 4.29 and is third in the CAA with 1.86 shots on target per game. Just a freshman, Costello leads the team with three goals in her first seven collegiate games.

All Good Things Come to an End
The loss to Princeton on Sunday ended the Tribe's first four-game win streak under Julie Shackford, and the first as a program since they started 4-0 in 2017. The non-conference has been very kind to the Tribe over the last two seasons, going 7-3-3 in their last 13 matches with non-league opponents.

History with the Wolfpack
Thursday's game is a rubber match between NC State and W&M with the all-time series knotted at 8-8-4. This will be the first time since 2015 that the two programs will meet, with the Tribe holding a four-game win streak over the Wolfpack. The last time NC State got the best of William & Mary was in 1996. The Tribe is 3-3-1 all-time in Raleigh.

Scouting the Wolfpack
NC State enters the meeting on Thursday with a record of 2-3-1 but have won two of their last three contests. The Wolfpack's two wins came against VCU and Charlotte, while they were beaten by ECU, Campbell and Rutgers. They tied Appalachian State in the season opener. Tim Santoro's team was selected 12th in the ACC preseason poll.
