WILLIAMSBURG, Va.— William & Mary men's golf head coach,
Tim Pemberton, announced an addition to the squad's 2024-25 roster on Thursday. Max Johnson will join the Tribe for his final year of eligibility, transferring in from Auburn University.
Johnson, a native of Fairhope, Ala., joins the Tribe after winning a national championship with Auburn this past season. The title was the first in the Tigers' program history.
He plans on enrolling in W&M's highly regarded MBA program via the Mason School of Business when he arrives on campus this fall. Johnson was a mechanical engineering major at Auburn.
"Max had a terrific career at Auburn and finished in style, winning the NCAA Championship in his senior year," Pemberton said. "We're excited for what he'll bring on the course and know his experience will be an asset to share with our players."
The Tribe's fifth-year head coach added, "The MBA program at W&M's Mason School of Business has been a wonderful fit for our graduate student-athletes. We're thankful they could help make this opportunity possible for Max. We look forward to welcoming him to campus in August."
Johnson played in 21 career rounds on the course for the Tigers with a scoring average of 75.29. He compiled six rounds of par or better over that time.
The incoming graduate student was also a two-time SEC Academic Honor Roll member and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society.
The Tribe, who announced the fall portion of their schedule earlier this week, will kick off their season at the Bryan National Collegiate, Sept. 8-10, in Greensboro, N.C.
