WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary baseball will take to the road for the first of two midweek games against Old Dominion as it looks to return to the win column. The Tribe fell in their two most recent games after posting an impressive 8-1 run to start the season, rivaling the best start in program history through as many games.

Clear Bag Policy
William & Mary Athletics, in conjunction with the William & Mary Police Department, has implemented a clear bag policy that regulates the size and type of bag that may be carried into W&M Athletics facilities during the 2023-24 year, including Busch Field, Kaplan Arena, Martin Family Stadium, Plumeri Park, and Zable Stadium. Last Time Out
The Tribe took on three opponents at home this past weekend as a part of the Central Virginia Classic Tournament, playing host to Central Connecticut State, Boston College and Sacred Heart.
The Green & Gold earned a Friday night victory over the Blue Devils, 8-3, and falling in a two-run game against the Eagles and a one-run game against the Pioneers.
Zack Potts got his second start for the Tribe, showing out with only two runs, none earned, and no walks allowed through his outing. He gave up only four hits over 5.0 innings of work following a 3.0 inning, one-hit outing a few games prior in which he allowed no runs and no walks.
Good Things come in Threes
Jakob Cohn had his first three-hit game in the Green & Gold, adding one of the Tribe's runs. He became the sixth Tribe player to have three or more hits in a game, joining
Joe Delossantos (4),
Jerry Barnes III,
Henry Jackson,
Luca Trigiani and
Anthony Greco.
Starting Steady
The outfielder duo of Delossantos and
Ben Parker lead the Tribe's offense. The pair have started in left- and centerfield, respectively, in each of W&M's 11 games. Parker has also started all of the Tribe's games hitting in the second spot.
Delossantos' 20 hits, four home runs, 10 walks and 15 RBI lead the team. He is also a perfect 5-5 in stolen bases.
Parker has struck out only six times in his 46 at-bats, racking up 14 hits, seven of them for extra bases with three home runs, and 13 RBI of his own.
The Matchup
The Tribe have been playing the Monarchs since 1955, in a series which is set to play its 150
th and 151
st games this week. All-time, the Tribe trail the Monarchs 56-93, splitting its home games 33-38 and away games 20-52.
ODU has started its season 7-4 and will face W&M looking to extend its win streak beyond the pair of victories it picked up against Charlotte over the weekend.
On the Bump
Alex Markus is set to make his fourth start for the Tribe. He has posted a 1.93 ERA over his first three appearances, going 9.1 innings and allowing only four hits and three runs, two of them earned. He factored into the first of the Tribe's combined two-hitters, not giving up a hit and allowing only one baserunner while fanning five. The graduate student has not allowed an earned run in his last two starts.
Up Next
The Tribe will welcome Fordham to Plumeri Park on Friday-Sunday, March 8-10, for its first of the final two non-conference weekends at home. The Tribe will then travel to No. 13 Virginia for a midweek game.
