Bundy and Burton Find Red Figures in Final Round, Hunter Top-10s at Golden Horseshoe

WILLIAMSBURG, Va.— Charlie Bundy tied his best round to par in his career with a 4-under 67, and Logan Hunter secured a top-10 finish, as the William & Mary men's golf team posted the third best final round score at the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate on Tuesday.

12 teams participated in the 54-hole event that spanned Monday and Tuesday. W&M's even-par score on Tuesday was only bested by Princeton and George Mason, who finished as the top two teams for the week.

The Tribe (305-294-284), the hosts of the event, finished tied fifth with St. Bonaventure and Saint Joseph's with totals of 31-over for the 54 holes.

Princeton was the team champion at 5-over and Longwood's Justin Larue was the individual champ at 10-under-par. The Tigers played the last 36 holes to the tune of 12-under to secure the victory.

Hunter, who sat in ninth place after the opening 36 holes with a second round 68, posted an even-par round of 71 on Tuesday morning despite a quadruple bogey. He righted the ship with five birdies on the round, including a bogey-free 33 on the back nine. Hunter finished the event T-7 at 2-over.

Bundy was the biggest mover of the entire final round, jumping up 26 spots to T-20 with his 67. The sophomore sat at 1-over through three before rattling off five birdies in his final 14 holes. He posted a total of 221 for the tournament.

Freshman, Preston Burton, joined Bundy in red figures on Tuesday. Burton (75-78-69) improved by nine shots from the second to third rounds thanks to four birdies, all of which came on par-4s. He finished up in a tie for 26th.

Scott Hanna finished as the top individual out of the four W&M players who teed it up but were not in the lineup this week. His tournament was highlighted by a second round 69 on his way to a T-33 finish and a 227 total.

The Tribe lineup was rounded out by Jake Newman (77-75-78) and Davis Adams (84-74-77). Other individuals competing for W&M were Matthew Epstein (77-80-75), Luke Walmet (79-77-77) and Jimmy Taylor (82-78-81).

The Tribe returns to action in two weeks at the Irish Creek Collegiate hosted by Appalachian State in North Carolina.
