WILLIAMSBURG, Va.— The William & Mary men's golf team sits eighth out of 12 teams following the opening two rounds of the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate on Monday. The Tribe posted scores of 305-294, 31-over, for the 36-hole day.
Princeton, thanks to an 8-under-par second round, finds themselves with a two-shot lead over George Mason heading into tomorrow's final round.
Logan Hunter put up the low round of the day for the Tribe with a second round 68 at the Golden Horseshoe's Gold Course. Hunter posted 76 in Monday's morning round and sits T-9 at 2-over with 18 holes to play. He torched the front nine in his second go-round, posting 5-under 31.
Scott Hanna, playing as an individual, finds himself tied with Hunter in ninth after joining him in red figures in round two. Hanna made three birdies on the front nine, posting splits of 34-35.
Jake Newman's day was highlighted by an eagle on the sixth hole in the second round, shooting 77-75 on the day. He sits T-37 heading into Monday.
Davis Adams also improved from first round to second, going 84-74 for a 158 total. He rounded out the Tribe's lineup alongside
Preston Burton (75-78) and
Charlie Bundy (77-77) who sit T-43 and T-46 respectively.
Three other players for W&M competed as individuals.
Luke Walmet posted scores of 79-77 while Matthew Epstein (80-77) and
Jimmy Taylor (82-78) shot totals of 157 and 160 respectively.
The tournament concludes tomorrow with the final 18 holes. Play begins with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun.
