Clear Bag Policy
William & Mary Athletics, in conjunction with the William & Mary Police Department, has implemented a clear bag policy that regulates the size and type of bag that may be carried into W&M Athletics facilities during the 2023-24 year, including Busch Field, Kaplan Arena, Martin Family Stadium, Plumeri Park, and Zable Stadium. Information as well as approved and prohibited items is available at TribeAthletics.com.

In The Polls
W&M received votes in the NCBWA Top 25 Poll, marking its first time in polls since the final week of 2013 (No. 28/Collegiate Baseball and RV/NCBWA & USA Today). Tuesday was the first time W&M saw game action having received votes in a national poll in recorded program history.

Two-Hitter(s)
In the Tribe's run-rule victory over Norfolk State in eight innings, the Pitching staff threw the second combined two-hitter of the year (Zack Potts, Noah Hertzler, Travis Garnett and Mark Hindy).

The first was on Friday against UMass Lowell as Alex Markus joined and Hindy, Potts and Garnett to only allow a pair. This marked the first time a W&M staff accomplished this feat since the 2019 season.

Winning Streak Watch
With a 7-1 start, the Tribe have racked up a seven-game winning streak to start the season. This is the 20th streak of seven or more wins in program history. In both of the last two years, the Tribe have seen eight-game winning streaks. The highest number of consecutive wins in a season was 11 in 1933.

Dropping only their first game at home and following with seven wins, the Tribe's 7-1 record, is their best start to the season since they went 12-1 through 13 games in 2019.

On the National Stage
The Tribe rank in the top 25 in multiple team statistics, including second n hits allowed per nine innings (5.12), No. 8 in hit by pitch (22), No. 13 in strikeouts per nine innings (12) and No. 17 in WHIP (1.12), the Tribe have drawn national attention through the first two weekends of play.

A few Tribe players also appear in individual statistical rankings as Mark Hindy is tied for the league lead with only two other pitchers in hits allowed per nine innings (1.00) and tied with a 0.00 ERA. His 0.44 WHIP is seventh in the nation.
Joe Delossantos is ranked in the top 50 in six categories, including No. 17 in total bases (31), No. 20 in hits (16) and No. 25 in hits per game (2.0). He also leads the CAA with 63 runs. More on pg. 11.

Family Reunion
In a particularly unique note, Eagles Head Coach Todd Interdonato is the uncle of Tribe Junior RHP Reed Interdonato. They faced off once prior, when Reed (Monmouth) beat Todd (Wofford), 18-9, on Feb. 25, 2022. Both in their first year with a new program, this is their second meeting.

Grand Greco
Anthony Greco earned the first CAA weekly honor for the Tribe on Monday as he was named co-Rookie of the Week following a week in which he safely reached base four times in two games, the first of which was a spectacle in itself.

At Richmond, Greco went 4-5 with two home runs and 6 RBI. In the sixth inning, Greco launched his first career home run, a go-ahead two-run bomb. In his next plate appearance, the freshman smashed a towering grand slam 356 feet, marking only the 31st time a Tribe player has hit two homers in a game.

High-Powered Offense
In 2023, the Tribe offense produced double-digit scoring efforts in 12 games. Through eight games of the 2024 season, the team has crossed the plate for double digits in five games.

Opponents in the Polls
Four of the Tribe's 2024 opponents are consensus top 17 in rankings (Duke, East Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia), reaching as high as No. 8 (Virginia, Baseball America). Campbell is also ranked as high as No. 21 by D1Baseball.

About Central Connecticut State
CCSU will open its season at W&M. In the last four years, the Blue Devils have won their opening game, three of which were on the road. The Tribe will face the Blue Devils for the first time in program history on March 1.

The Blue Devils ended their 2023 season in the Columbia (S.C.) Regional, falling to host South Carolina and now-CAA foe Campbell. The reigning NEC Champions beat W&M's Sunday opponent Sacred Heart twice in the championship en route to a conference title in 2023.

The Blue Devils have appeared in NCAA postseason play in three of the last five years. They have compiled a 1-6 record, the win coming against No. 24 Cal in the Fayetteville Regional in 2019.

About Boston College
Boston College, a Tuscaloosa Regional team in 2023, is fresh off a 37-win season. They have posted a 4-2 record so far on the year, dropping a pair of games to Kansas State and UT Arlington in the first two weeks of play.

The Eagles are the first of four ACC teams the Tribe will face this season. In the last two years, the Tribe is 1-3 against ACC teams.

About Sacred Heart
Sacred Heart has played every game on the road so far this season and are slated to return home on March 15. With a pair of road games at VCU and Richmond prior to arriving to W&M, the Pioneers enter the weekend in search of their first win. They have posted a 0-6 record to begin their 2024 campaign.

Up Next
The Tribe will play a midweek series against Old Dominion. W&M will travel to the Monarchs for a 3 p.m. matchup on Tuesday, March 5, and will welcome ODU to Plumeri Park at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6. Then, the Tribe will host Fordham for a three-game weekend series.
