Dunigan's First Career Top-Five Paces Women's Golf in Florida

PALM CITY, Fla.—Mary Grace Dunigan paced the William & Mary women's golf team in their spring debut at the Advanced Partners Collegiate in Palm City, Fla. UNC Greensboro was the host of the event over the last three days.

The Tribe finished tied for ninth out of 14 teams posting scores of 303-317-310 to total 66-over-par. Jacksonville State and Elon tied for first at 33-over.

Dunigan finished in a tie for fifth over the 54 holes at Hammock Creek Golf Club at 6-over. The top-five is the best finish of the freshman's young college career, besting her T-14 finish at the William & Mary Invitational in the fall.

The Kennett Square, Pa. native showed no signs of rust in W&M's spring lid lifter, posting an even-par 72 in the opening round. Dunigan and the Tribe started on the back nine in the first round, as she picked up an early birdie on the par-4 11th

After dropped shots on 15 and 16, the freshman got back to level-par with a birdie on the 18th, before rattling off an even-keeled nine pars in a row on the front nine to close out her round.

She backed up her 72 with a 1-over 73 in the second round, which featured three birdies. She closed out the event with a 77 on Tuesday to finish 10 shots back of Jacksonville State's Jinger Heath, who took individual honors at 4-under.

Simone Senk was the next best Tribe finisher, starting her spring with a 3-over 75 in the first round which featured three birdies.

One of three players to have played in every round in the fall season, Senk finished in a tie for 22nd with a 231 total after firing 79 and 77 respectively in the last two rounds.

Another freshman, Samantha Skinner, got off to a good start in Sunday's opening round. The Blacksburg, Va. native was 1-over-par through her first 15 holes on Sunday before finishing with a 76 for the day.

Skinner finished at 20-over for the event with a 236 total. Her scores of 83 and 77 on Monday and Tuesday landed her a T-41 finish.

Ava Svindland and Mikah McDonnell rounded out the lineup for the Tribe but did not play in all three rounds to place individually.

Svindland missed Sunday's opening 18 before shooting 82-79 over the final 36 holes.

McDonnell opened up with an 80 in the first round before not posting a score on Monday. She returned in the final round, firing an 86.
