SOUTHPORT, N.C. - William & Mary women's golf sits in fifth place after the opening day of the CAA Championships at The Reserve Club at St. James on Friday.

W&M carded a 316 (+28), its best opening round score at the league championship since 2016. UNCW leads by two strokes after the opening round thanks to a 292 (+4), just head of Charleston (294 (+6) and Campbell (295 (+7).

Sophomore
Jennifer Osborne and freshman
Reagan Garnsey led the way for the Tribe with matching scores of 75 (+3) to sit in a share of 12th place.

Osbourne recorded a birdie on each side to go with 11 pars. Garnsey tallied three birdies on her second nine holes after recording eight pars on her opening nine.

Juniors
Samantha Skinner and
Katie Suk shot 83 (+11) in the first round. Suk birdied back-to-back holes on the par-3 16th and par-5 17th, while Skinner birdied the par-3 13th hole during her round. Junior
Faith Garcia rounded the Tribe lineup in 34th place with an 84 (+12).

The Tribe will be paired with Elon, who is fourth at 308 (+20), and Towson, who sixth at 321 (+33), in the second round on Saturday. Tee times are set to begin at 8:30 a.m. and live scoring is available on Scorecard powered by clippd.
