TRIBE NOTES

Last Time Out
Campbell used a goal in the first and second halves to get by the Tribe 2-0 on Sunday afternoon in Buies Creek, N.C. The first strike for the Camels came in the 18th minute as they would take a 1-0 lead to the half. The insurance goal for the hosts came in the 58th minute. The Tribe outshot the Camels 8-4 in the second half, and 13-7 for the game, but were unable to solve the Campbell backline.

National Honors for Costello
Tribe freshman Peyton Costello checked in at No. 64 in the Top Drawer Soccer Top 100 Freshman Midseason List. The Stony Brook, N.Y. native has had quite the impact in her first season with seven points and three goals, good for third best on the Tribe. Two of Costello's three goals are of the game-winning variety for W&M. She was one of three CAA freshman selected to the Top 100 list.

Let it Rip
From the onset of the 2024 season W&M was not shy about taking cracks at goal. The Tribe has outshot their opponents in 10 of their 15 games this year. Overall, the Green and Gold holds a 205-136 advantage over opponents in shots.

Speaking of Letting it Rip
The catalyst in the Tribe's high shot numbers has been, without a doubt, Ivey Crain. The junior currently leads the CAA in shots per game (4.13) and shots on goal per game (1.87). Crain, a preseason All-CAA selection, has eight more shots than Reilly Rich (Stony Brook) who ranks second in the CAA in attempts. For reference 32 is enough for 10th most shots in the conference, Crain has 62.

Setting the Scene
Heading into the week the CAA postseason picture is still murky. The top six teams will qualify for the postseason but heading into Thursday's action four teams sit tied at nine points in sixth. The Tribe, UNCW and Drexel all have six points and still have postseason hopes, but with so many teams tied ahead of them for the final spot, picking up a trio of wins to close the season is of the utmost importance for the Tribe.

History with the Dragons and Pride
The Tribe has dominated the all-time series with the Dragons, leading 17-4-1 in 22 meetings. Thursday will be the first meeting for the two sides in Williamsburg since 2021. W&M won last year's meeting in Philadelphia 2-1. W&M is 9-1-1 all-time at home against Drexel.

Sunday will be the 27th meeting between W&M and Hofstra with the Tribe holding a 13-9-4 edge. The previous three meetings have taken place on Long Island including last year's 1-0 Tribe win. The last win for the Pride came in 2019 at Martin Family Stadium. The Green and Gold is 6-5-1 all-time in Williamsburg against Hofstra.
