VERONA, N.Y.—Preston Burton finished tied for seventh in his collegiate debut as William & Mary men's golf came in seventh out of 15 teams at the Red Bandanna Invitational hosted by Boston College. 
 
The 54-hole event was played at Turning Stone Resort's Kaluhyat Course on Sunday and Monday. West Virginia won the team event at 8 over, while WVU's Max Green posted a final round 70 on his way to winning the individual title at 3-under-par.
 
Burton had a solid first day when the competitors played the opening 36 holes. The freshman posted back-to-back 2 over 74s, playing the front nine in 1-under-par on the day total. He played the par-5s on the front at 5 under for the event.
 
Burton started the third and final round on the seventh hole and found himself at 1 over through five before playing his final 13 holes in 3 under, including a closing birdie on the par-5 sixth, to post 70. His efforts on his last day was the low score of the tournament for the Tribe and the second lowest round of the day.
 
Charlie Bundy opened his sophomore campaign with a top-25 in the field of 83 players. After opening with a 77 and 75 in the first two rounds, Bundy played the 7,100-yard layout in 2-over-par 74 with three birds on the day, earning a T-21 finish.
 
Luke Walmet, also appeared in the lineup for the Tribe making his collegiate debut. The South Carolina native posted scores of 76 and 83 on Sunday, before a solid bounce back over the final 18 holes. Walmet used back-to-back birdies on 14 and 15 to pace himself to a 74 and a T-37 finish for the event.
 
Logan Hunter and Jake Newman rounded out the lineup for the Green and Gold finishing T-40 and T-45 respectively. Hunter put up scores of 76-78-80 at the Robert Trent Jones Jr. design, while Newman shot 77-81-78 totaling 20 over for the event.
