WILLIAMSBURG, Va.—The William & Mary women's golf team returns from a week hiatus to hit the links at the Navy Fall Invitational on Saturday and Sunday. The tournament will be contested over 36 holes at the Naval Academy Golf Club in Annapolis, Md.
TRIBE NOTES
Last Time Out
The Tribe's last action was at the Elon Invitational in North Carolina on Sept. 18-19. W&M finished in 7
thplace out of 15 teams with a 879 total (290-290-299).
Samantha Skinner and
Mikah McDonnell led the way for the Tribe, finishing T-14 at 5-over.
Mary Grace Dunigan went 72-72-75 to earn a T-22 finish. The Tribe entered the final round just five shots back of the lead before Radford charged to the team title.
Starting Strong
Despite a young lineup, the Tribe has given themselves a chance to win going into the final round of their last two events. Although the result hasn't been what the Green and Gold has wanted, their effort in the opening rounds this year is nothing to scoff at. The season opener saw the Tribe post 300-298 at the first rounds of their home event, being only three shots back of the lead. The pair of 290s in the first two rounds at Elon was good enough for a third-place tie heading into the final round. W&M has had seven individual scores of 72 or better in the opening two rounds of events so far this year.
Back at the Yard
The Tribe returns to the Naval Academy to play the Navy Fall Invitational for the second time in a row. Last year the Green and Gold posted scores of 322 and 320 on their way to a 10
th place finish. The Tribe jumped up two places on the last day in the 15-team field. Navy won the event with a 40-over-par total of 616. The Mids held on for a five-shot victory over Quinnipiac.
Sarah Houle was the Tribe's top finisher, placing T-4.

The Field
12 teams will vie for the Navy Fall Invitational title. Towson and Hofstra are the other CAA members playing in the event. The rest of the field is made up of Navy, LIU, Bryant, Bucknell, Holy Cross, Fairleigh Dickinson, Lafayette, Maryland and Seton Hall.
The Course
The Naval Academy Golf Club began in 1938, being eventually redesigned by William Flynn in the early 1940s. Flynn, who designed U.S. Open venues like The Country Club and Cherry Hills Country Club, used 'rolling terrain of inlets and surrounding tidal rivers of the Chesapeake Bay' to create a championship caliber course. After facility upgrades in 2017, the club kicked off an ongoing renovation in 2018 that includes bunker renovations, new fairways, and expansion of the green complexes. It is the home course of the Brigade of Midshipmen, Naval Academy golf teams, active and retired military, USNA faculty and staff, and civilian members. The track will play to a par of 72 and 6,085 yards for the tournament.
