WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary women's tennis travels to Durham for the 2023 NCAA Regional where it will take on No. 6 seed Duke on Friday.
Tickets for the NCAA First and Second rounds will be $5 plus a $1 processing fee online and at the gate for ages three and up. Ages two and under receive free admission. No cash will be accepted, only major credit cards. Parking for all fans will be free in the Blue Zone lot.

W&M's NCAA History
- The Tribe is making its 25th NCAA Tournament appearance, which ranks 19th nationally.
- The Green and Gold owns 21 wins in the NCAA Tournament, including an 18-14 mark at the regional level. The 21 NCAA wins rank 27th in the country.
- Both the Tribe's number of appearances and win total rank second, behind only Pepperdine, for a school from outside the Power Five.
- On seven occasions, W&M advanced to the round of 16 at the NCAA Championship, including back-to-back quarterfinal appearances in 1997 and 1998.

Scouting Duke
- Duke is the No. 6 seed in the NCAA Championship after amassing a 22-4 overall record.
- The Blue Devils finished second the challenging ACC during the regular season with an 11-2 ledger. Duke lost its last match in the ACC Quarterfinals to Georgia Tech, 4-3.
- Duke features seven wins against top-30 ranked teams and posted a 12-4 mark against teams that received invitations to the 2023 NCAA Tournament.
- The Blue Devils earned a top-six seed in the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time in the last six years.
- The Duke lineup features four nationally-ranked singles players in No. 5 Chloe Beck, No. 40 Emma Jackson, No. 61 Georgia Drummy and No. 81 Cameron Morra.
The Blue Devils have a trio of ranked doubles teams with Beck joining Morra as the No. 49 team in the country and Elizabeth Coleman to comprise the No. 66 team. Jackson and Karolina Berankova are ranked No. 73 nationally in doubles.
- Beck, Jackson and Drummy all received invitations to compete in the NCAA Singles Championship.
Series History
- Duke leads the all-time series with W&M at 26-9, including a 14-2 mark in Durham.
- The teams meet for the fourth time in the NCAA Tournament, previously squaring off in the regional final in 2004 and 2008 as well as the round of 16 in 2003. The Blue Devils have won all three meetings.
- The Blue Devils have been ranked in the national top-10 in each of the last 23 meetings between the two teams.
- Duke has won the last nine in the series, including a 7-0 victory in 2020.
- W&M's last win over the Blue Devils came in 2006 when the Tribe topped the No. 5-ranked team in the country, 4-3, in Williamsburg. The program's last win in Durham was a 4-3 win in 2005 overall No. 5 Duke.

- The Green and Gold has won nine of its last 10 matches and enters the NCAA Tournament at 15-5 on the season. W&M is 28-14 (.667) in its two seasons under head coach
Jessica Giuggioli.
- The Tribe won 15 or more dual-matches for the 24th time in school history and the first time since 2017.
- Sophomore
Hedda Gurholt became the 12th player overall on the 15th occasion to be named the Most Outstanding Player of the CAA Championship. Gurholt went 2-0 in singles competition with key victories in the semifinals and championship match to go along with a pair of doubles wins.
- Gurholt has been impressive at the No. 1 positions this season, going 15-3 at the spot and winning each of her last nine matches. She leads the Tribe at 20-7 overall, marking her second-straight 20-win singles campaign.
- Along with Gurholt, a trio of Tribe players racked up double-digit dual-match wins in 2023. Kuzina (No. 3), Fernald (No. 4) and Pell (No. 6) each won 11 dual matches this season.
- Gurholt's career winning % of 70.5 ranks 12th in W&M History. Over her two seasons in Williamsburg, she is an impressive 43-18.
- Gurholt is the only CAA player to be named the league's player of the week on three occasions this season. The Tribe sophomore claimed the honor on Feb. 28, March 21, and April 11.
- Senior
Elisa Van Meeteren and Kuzina have had strong singles seasons as well. Van Meeteren is 16-10 on the year, playing mainly at the No. 2 spot, while Kuzina is 17-11. Kuzina has won four in a row, including going 3-0 in the CAA Tournament.
- Fernald has been on a tear as well of late, winning seventh in a row, including two at the CAA Championship. Playing exclusively at the No. 4 spot, she went 11-5 in dual-match action. Overall, she is 18-8 on the year and is an impressive 37-18 (.673) over her two seasons in singles action.
- The Tribe has won the doubles point in 12 of its 20 matches, including four of its last six contests.
- Sophomore
Ine Stange and Kuzina comprise the Tribe's top doubles team. The pair has been ranked throughout the spring and as high as No. 35 on Feb. 21. Stange and Kuzina are 10-4 in dual-match play, including a win over the No. 19-ranked team in the country from Maryland. The duo owns four wins at No. 1 and was named the CAA Doubles Team of the Week on three occasions.
- The Tribe's No. 2 team of Van Meeteren and Fernald own nine doubles wins on the year, including seven at the top two positions. The pair knocked off the No. 54-ranked team in the country in the Tribe's dual-match with Maryland in February.
