WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary head women's soccer coach Julie Shackford '88 announced the Tribe's 2023 fall schedule on Tuesday. The 18-match slate includes eight home contests and a full CAA round-robin with 12 matches against league opponents. 
 
The six-match non-conference slate features four against the Atlantic 10 Conference and a meeting with Hampton Roads rival and 2022 Sun Belt Champion Old Dominion. 
 
The Tribe opens the regular season with three straight on the road, including a two-match trip to Philadelphia. W&M heads to Temple on Thursday, Aug. 17, at 7 p.m., before trekking to Saint Joseph's on Sunday, Aug. 20, for a 1 p.m. kick. The Tribe meets the Owls for the first time since 1993 when it picked up a 5-0 win, while the meeting will be the first between W&M and St. Joes. 
 
The match with the Hawks will also be the first of four in a row against the A-10, including the Tribe's first two home contests. W&M closes out its three-match road swing with a short trip west on I-64 to face Richmond on Thursday, Aug. 24, at 5 p.m. It will be the first meeting between the two teams in the regular season since 2014. Last season, the Tribe notched a 2-1 exhibition win over the Spiders. 
 
W&M's home slate begins with two instate foes in A-10 opponents VCU and George Mason. The Tribe hosts the Rams, coached by W&M alumna Lindsey (Vanderspiegel) Martin '94, on Sunday, Aug. 27, at 1 p.m. W&M faces former CAA rival George Mason for the first time since 2014 when it welcomes the Patriots to Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field on Thursday, Aug. 31, at 7 p.m. 
 
The Tribe wraps up the non-conference portion of the schedule on the road at Sun Belt Champion Old Dominion on Sunday, Sept. 3, at 6 p.m. W&M topped ODU, 1-0, in Williamsburg last season and owns a 24-4-1 all-time mark against the Monarchs. 
 
The 12-match CAA schedule includes six home contests and six on the road. The league slate starts with a Mid-Atlantic road trip to Drexel on Thursday, Sept. 7, and Delaware on Sunday, Sept. 10. CAA matches will be played on Thursdays and Sundays with the Tribe having two weeks with an open date and just one match. Both of those one-match weeks come at home on Thursday, Sept. 14, vs. Monmouth and Sunday, Oct. 8, against Hampton. 
 
The Green and Gold also travels to Hofstra (Sept. 28), Stony Brook (Oct. 1), UNCW (Oct. 12), and Charleston (Oct. 15) in league play. The remainder of the Tribe's home conference schedule includes newcomer Campbell (Sept. 21), Elon (Sept. 24), Towson (Oct. 19), and Northeastern (Oct. 22) 
 
W&M kicks off the year with a pair of exhibition matches at home against Radford on Sunday, Aug. 6, and VMI on Saturday, Aug. 12. The Highlanders will be a good early test in the preseason after winning the Big South last season with a 12-4-4 record. 

The CAA Championship is set for Oct. 26 through Nov. 4 with six teams making the field. The quarterfinals and semifinals will be played at the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds on Oct. 26 and Oct. 29, respectively, before the championship is held at the highest remaining seed on Nov. 4.
 
The Tribe returns 10 of its 11 starters from last season's team that qualified for the CAA Tournament for the first time since 2017 with a 3-3-3 mark. W&M welcomes back its top-five scorers from 2022 and 95.8% (23-of-24) of its goal scoring. The Tribe also returns a pair of All-CAA First Team selections in sophomore forward Ivey Crain, who was the league's rookie of the year and one of the top freshmen in the country last season, and graduate student goalkeeper Zoe Doughty, who was the 2021 CAA Goalkeeper of the Year.
