Men's Golf in Contention at the CAA Championships

BEAUFORT, S.C. – William & Mary men's golf is in contention at the 2023 Colonial Athletic Association Championship, sitting in fourth after the opening round at the Dataw Island Club on Sunday. Freshman Charlie Bundy and senior Trevor Binau both sit inside the top-10 after the first 18 holes to lead the way.

The Tribe fired an opening round 296 (+8) and just 11 shot behind leader Drexel, who shot a 285 (-3). UNCW is second at 289 (+1) followed by Charleston at 291 (+3).

Bundy led the Tribe with a 1-under par 71 and is in a share of fourth place. After shooting an even-par 36 on the opening nine that featured seven pars, the Tribe rookie carded at trio of birdies over his final six holes. He ranks third in the tournament field in par-3 scoring at 1-under and fourth in birdies with four. It marks Bundy's ninth round of par or better this season.

After earning a top-10 last, Binau is on his way to repeating that feat. He shot an opening-round 72 to sit in a share of seventh place. Like Bundy, he carded four birdies during his round to rank fourth in the tournament field. He shot a 2-under 34 on the back nine in shooting even-par for the round. Binau notched his eighth round this season of par or better.

Graduate student Matthew Feinstein opened the CAA Championships with a 3-over 75. He sits inside the top 20 in a share of 19th.

Sophomore Logan Hunter rounded out the Tribe scorers on the day with a 78 (+6). He parred 13 of his 18 holes on the day.

The Tribe will be paired with Elon and Delaware in the second round of the CAA Championships on Monday and tee off beginning at 10:10 a.m.
