WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - William & Mary men's golf opens up the championship season with a trip to the CAA Championships at the Dataw Island Club in St. Helena Island, S.C.

The three-day event, which includes 18 holes each day, runs from Sunday, April 26, through Tuesday, April 28. Tee times on Sunday and Monday begin at 8:30 a.m. with the final round on Tuesday starting at 8 a.m.

History at the CAA Championships
The Tribe has posted top four finishes in three of the last six CAA Championships. The last time W&M posted a top-three finish at the conference championships was 2015 when they finished runner-up with a team score of 893. Overall, W&M has competed at the CAA Championships since 1984, with the program's lone conference title coming in 1985. The best team score for William & Mary at the event came in 2002 when the Tribe shot 5-under, paced by current head coach
Tim Pemberton's 2-under-par performance. This year marks a return to the Dataw Island Club for the fifth time in the last six seasons.

Last Time Out
The Tribe shot its best round of the West Virginia Mountaineer Invitational in the third and final round with a 295 (+7). As a team, the Tribe finished 16th with a 902 (+38) over the two-day event. Graduate student
Matthew Monastero led the way for the Tribe, finishing 55th with a score of 223 (+7). He recorded five birdies on the front nine in his opening round to lead the way with a 73 (+1). Monastero topped the Green and Gold with 11 birdies over his three rounds.

Tribe News and Notes
- The Tribe owns wins at the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate in March and the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate during the fall. It is the sixth time in school history that W&M has won multiple tournaments in a season and the first time since 2004-05.
- W&M was No. 139 in the NCAA Division I National Rankings as of April 20. W&M has been as high as No. 121 on Feb. 11 and 18.
- The Tribe has a scoring average of 290.73, which is nearly two shots better than the school record set in 2022-23.
- Freshmen
Talon Dingledine has enjoyed a strong rookie campaign. He has placed in the top 10 in six of the nine events, including a pair of top 5s. His 72.38 scoring average not only leads the team but ranks second in school history. His six top 10's this season rank third on the Tribe's single-season list.
- Fellow freshman
Eli Felty tallied his second top 5 of the season at the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate. His 73.13 scoring average ranks third all-time among Tribe freshmen and ninth overall.
- Junior
Preston Burton has tallied 12 rounds of par or better this season to go along with a stroke average of 72.77. Those numbers rank fourth and fifth on the Tribe's single-season lists. He owns three top 5 performance this season, which is 11th in program history. In fact, he is one of only 20 players in Tribe lore with four career top 5s.
