ST. HELENA ISLAND, S.C. - William & Mary men's golf finished the CAA Championships strong on Tuesday afternoon in record-setting fashion on the Cotton Dike Course at the Dataw Island Club. Freshman Talon Dingledine highlighted the Tribe's effort finishing as the CAA runner-up.

As a team, the Tribe shot the best round in program history at the CAA Championships, posting a 5-under 283 on Tuesday. The previous best mark was a 4-under 284 in the third and final round in 2003. W&M finished the tournament in sixth place behind a 5-over 869. The third round score was the 14th best in W&M history and the 11th time this season the Tribe shot a round under par. The overall tournament score was the program's second best at the CAA Championships and ranked 20th on the Tribe's all-time list.

Dingledine matched the best 18-hole total for a W&M player at the CAA Championships. He also equaled the best round of the day with a 6-under 66. The final round concluded an exceptional tournament for the Tribe rookie who finished second with a three-round total of 9-under par 207.

Dingledine birdied three-straight holes, the 11th, 12th, and 13th, on his first nine, before starting the second nine with a birdie on the 309-yard par 4 1st hole. He then collected one of four eagles on the day at the par 5 489-yard third hole. Dingledine posted a clean card adding 13 pars to match Brent Paladino's 6-under 65 in 2008.

The 6-under 66 equaled the fourth-best 18-hole score in school history, while Dingledine's tournament score  also ranked fourth in program lore. He became just the fifth W&M player to finish first or second at the CAA Championships, joining a list that includes Alex Hicks (second in 2013), Paladino (second in 2008), John McHenry (first in 1984 and 1985, second in 1986), and Mike Gregor (first in 1985). Dingledine is also one of just five players to finish under par at the CAA Championships along with Gary Barton and current head coach Tim Pemberton in 2002, Paladino in 2008, and Davis Morrison in 2017.

Graduate Matthew Monastero posted his best round of the CAA Championships on Tuesday, shooting a 1-under 71. It was his ninth round of par or better this season as he collected three birdies compared to just two bogeys. He finished the tournament in a share of 31st at 221 (+5).

Junior Preston Burton placed 29th at the CAA Championships with a total of 220 (+4). He shot a 73 (+1) on the final day behind five birdies.

Freshman Eli Felty matched Burton's five birdies on Tuesday and also finished with a third round 73 (+1). For the tournament, the Tribe rookie posted a 221 (+5) to finish in 31st.

Sophomore Grady Williams rounded out the Tribe lineup with a 74 (+2) on Tuesday and finished the event in 37th place at 226 (+10). Over the three days, Williams led the Tribe with 12 birdies.

UNCW won the CAA Championship behind a league record 38-under 826. The Seahawks' James Rico won individually by five shots over Dingledine. He posted a CAA-record 14-under 202.

The Tribe will await its selection in a post season tournament next week.
