WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Senior
Trevor Binau fired a final round 6-under 65 and joined sophomore
Logan Hunter in the top 10 at the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate on Tuesday.
Binau carded his career round, the fourth-best round in school history and just the second 6-under 65. He recorded seven birdies compared to just one bogey and fired a 5-under 31 on the front nine. He finished the event in a share of seventh at 1-over 214, tallying his third career top-10 effort.
His 65 was tied for the best round of the tournament. Binau ranked third in the field in par 3 scoring at 1-under and tied for the team lead with 11 birdies.
Hunter notched his second career top 5, closing out the 54 holes at even par 213. It was his third career top-10 performance. He ranked fifth in the tournament in par 5 scoring at 5-under and tied Binau for team-high honors with 11 birdies.
As a team, the Tribe finished eighth in the 13-team field, moving up two spots on Tuesday. W&M shot the third-best final round in the field on Tuesday at 293 (+9), finishing the tournament at 879 (+27). Villanova won the team crown with an 868 (+16) just two shots clear of George Washington and four ahead of Princeton.
Playing as an individual, freshman
Davis Adams shot his best collegiate round on Tuesday with an even par 71. He posted five birdies over his final 18 holes. He finished with a career-best 221 (+8) to garner a share of 28th.
Freshman
Charlie Bundy and sophomore
Jake Newman both finished in the top 40. Bundy finished with a 2-over 74 on Tuesday to garner a share of 35th at 223 (+10). Newman earned a share of 39th with a 224 (+11). He finished fifth in the tournament field with 37 pars over the 54 holes.
