SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. – William & Mary men's golf opened the spring season, placing seventh in a 18-team field at the Ross Collegiate Classic on Tuesday. In total, the Tribe generated five rounds of par or better over the two-day event and shot a team total under par for the seventh time this season in the second round.
W&M sat fifth at the opening 36 holes behind the 17th-best score in school history at 1-over 577. That two-round total included a 4-under 284 during the second 18 of Monday. It ranked as the 13th-best 18-hole team total in school history. Battling tough conditions on Tuesday, the Tribe shot a final round 304 to finish the event at 881 (+17).
Graduate student
Matthew Feinstein led the Tribe with a 14th-place showing, shooting a 1-over 217. Included in his three-round total was a 2-under 70 in the second round on Monday. He led the Tribe with 10 birdies. Feinstein ranked fourth in the field in par 5 scoring at 8-under, including an eagle on a 484-yard par 5 fifth in the opening round, and seventh in par-3 scoring at even.
Freshman
Charlie Bundy earned a share of 22nd at 3-over 219. Like Feinstein, he also ranked seventh in the field in par 3 scoring at even. His best round came in the second when he shot a 1-under 71, his sixth round of the year at par or better.
Sophomore
Logan Hunter rounded out the Tribe's top-30 performers as he earned a share of 27th behind a 5-over 221. He shot even par 72 in each of the opening two rounds, bringing his team-leading total to 12 of rounds with par or better this season. Hunter also ranked 11th in the field with 34 pars, which also led the team.
Senior
Trevor Binau added a 1-under round of 71 in the second round on Monday, his fourth round of par or better this season. He finished the event in a share of 42nd at 224 (+8).
