A Look at the Tribe
W&M opened its season with an 18-6 setback to Villanova in its season opener at Martin Family Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
London Simonides led W&M with two goals, while
Sarah Cipolla totaled a team-high three points (1g, 2a) and six draw controls.
Paige Gilbert added two points (1g, 1a) with a pair of draw controls and a caused turnover.
Scouting Richmond
Richmond opened its season with a 13-6 victory at Queens University on Saturday. Led by Colleen Quinn's five-goal effort, six different Spiders scored in the triumph. Additionally, Jax Donohue was selected as the Atlantic 10 Co-Defensive Player of the Week after totaling three caused turnovers and five ground balls.

W&M-UR All-Time Series
W&M leads the all-time series against Richmond, 44-14-1. The series has been more competitive in recent years, however, as the Tribe posted a 36-1-1 record in the first 38 meetings.
Last Meeting vs. UR
W&M suffered its first setback of the 2022 campaign with a 19-10 loss at Richmond last February. The contest was knotted at 5-5 midway through the second quarter before the Spiders utilized an 11-1 run that spanned the second and third frames to build a comfortable lead. Although W&M outscored UR during the remainder of the contest, it was unable to narrow the margin to fewer than eight goals down the stretch.
Versus the Atlantic 10
W&M owns a 75-27-1 all-time record versus teams currently in the Atlantic 10. W&M controls the all-time series against Richmond (44-14-1), George Mason (18-9), Davidson (7-1), George Washington (3-2), St. Joseph's (1-0) and VCU (2-0), while it has a losing record versus Massachusetts (0-1).

UR Head Coach Anne Harrington played four years at W&M as a midfielder and is a 2007 graduate.
Looking for a Strong Start
As W&M opens its season looking for a strong start, it will do so with four of its first five games coming at home. In total, the Tribe will play nine home games this season.
