WILLIAMSBURG, VA.- William & Mary's women's swimming team enjoyed a 148-114 win over Davidson Saturday afternoon at the Bee Mcleod Rec Center in Williamsburg. Senior
Katie Stevenson made the most of her final swim in the rec center with three total first-place finishes.
The Tribe women got off to a hot start as
Kat Vanbourgondien,
Annie Tuttle,
Sophia Heilen, and
Katie Stevenson paced all teams with a time of 1:43.22, while
Caroline Burgeson,
Ellie Scherer,
Lindsay Juhlin, and
Brooke Lamoureux swam second with a time of 1:45.67.
RESULTS
In the 1,000 distance swim, it was
Devin Genderson with the second-best time of 1:32.05 followed by
Kelsey Katt as the Tribe took two of the top three spots. Stevenson's second victory, and first individual win of the afternoon came in the 200 free with a blistering time of 1:50.90 and
Grace Tramack finished third.
Vanbourgondien continued her impressive afternoon with a first-place time of 56.97 in the 100 back to extend the Tribe's early lead. Scherer and Tuttle swam one, two in the 100 breast with times of 1:05.04 and 1:05.94 respectively claiming the top two spots.
Heilen's blistering time of 2:02.43 was just off a Tribe dual meet record to claim first in the 200 fly and
Lauren Klinefelter finished third in the distance butterfly event. The Tribe took three of the top four times in the women's 50 free as Lamoureux finished second followed by Burgeson and
Sydney Querner.
In the 100, it was Stevenson again, this time with a 50.92 time to win the event while Querner placed second. Vanbourgondien took home another first place finish with a time of 2:05.26 in the 200 back.
Tuttle and Scherer swapped places with the senior taking home first place in the 200 breast,
Elizabeth Intihar earned a third place time in the 500 free. Heilen and Klinefelter placed second and third respectively in the 100 fly and
Peyton Proffitt earned second in the 400 IM.
Stevenson, Burgeson, Querner, and Lamoureux ended the meet with a second place time in the 200 free relay.
Next up the men's and women's teams will have a week away from competition before heading to Charlottesville for the Cavalier Invitational February 3-5 as a final tune-up before the CAA Championships February 22-25 in Hampton, Virginia.
