WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — Winner of two straight, William & Mary women's soccer opens Colonial Athletic Association play when it travels to Long Island for a pair of matches this week. The Tribe meets new CAA program Stony Brook (3-5-1) on Thursday, Sept. 22, at 6 p.m., before traveling to Hofstra (5-3-1) on Sunday, Sept. 25, for a noon kick. Both matches will be broadcast on FloFC.
The Tribe is coming off wins over
Longwood, 2-0, and East Carolina, 1-0, last week to close out the nonconference slate at 4-4-1. In the win over ECU,
junior Elaina Longjohn scored the lone goal in the 65th minute as the Tribe knocked off a Pirates team that came into the game receiving votes in the national poll and coming off a 2-1 win at No. 19 SMU. For her efforts, Longjohn, who also scored in the win over Longwood,
was voted the W&M Student-Athlete of the Week presented by the Virginia Lottery by the Tribe fanbase.
After helping the Tribe to back-to-back shutouts,
sophomore Emma D'Alesandro was named the CAA Defensive Player of the Week. Freshman
Ivey Crain, who had a goal and an assist in the win over Longwood, was
named the CAA Rookie of the Week for the second time this season.
