WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary women's soccer scored once in each half on the way to a 2-0 win over visiting Longwood on Thursday night at Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field.
Freshman
Ivey Crain scored as a substitute in the opening 45 minutes, while junior
Elaina Longjohn found the back of the net for the second time this season early in the second half to provide the Tribe (3-4-1) with the winning margin
Crain put the Tribe on the board in the 37th minute with her third goal of the season. On the play, freshman
Nora Green-Orset spun on a defender after a forwarding pass from sophomore
Marisa McClure. Crain beat two Longwood (3-4-2) defenders to the ball off the Green-Orset pass and buried a shot inside the left post from 12 yards out.
Longjohn doubled the lead 14 minutes into the second half. Crain backheeled a pass to senior
Kayleigh Shackford who centered a pass into the penalty area for Longjohn. The Tribe striker beat the rushing goalkeeper to the lower right side of the frame from 10 yards out.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Morgan Wood received her first start of the season and recorded four saves in registering the clean sheet. It was the Tribe's fourth shutout this season.
