A Goal in Each Half Lifts Women's Soccer to 2-0 Win over Longwood

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary women's soccer scored once in each half on the way to a 2-0 win over visiting Longwood on Thursday night at Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field.

Freshman Ivey Crain scored as a substitute in the opening 45 minutes, while junior Elaina Longjohn found the back of the net for the second time this season early in the second half to provide the Tribe (3-4-1) with the winning margin

Crain put the Tribe on the board in the 37th minute with her third goal of the season. On the play, freshman Nora Green-Orset spun on a defender after a forwarding pass from sophomore Marisa McClure. Crain beat two Longwood (3-4-2) defenders to the ball off the Green-Orset pass and buried a shot inside the left post from 12 yards out.

Longjohn doubled the lead 14 minutes into the second half. Crain backheeled a pass to senior Kayleigh Shackford who centered a pass into the penalty area for Longjohn. The Tribe striker beat the rushing goalkeeper to the lower right side of the frame from 10 yards out.
