NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – William & Mary women's cross country dominated on its way to winning the Christopher Newport Regional Preview on Friday evening at the Lee Hall Mansion Course.
Tribe harriers claimed the six of the top seven positions, including each of the top four. For the second-straight event, freshmen led the way highlighted by the winning performance of
Catherine Garrison who covered the 6K course in 21:48.0.
Sophomore
Arianna DeBoer was second at 22:06.09 followed by freshman
Sofia Istnick (22:17.8) and sophomore
Lucy Young (22.18.6) in third and fourth, respectively. Freshmen
Jennifer Tsai (22:35.4) and
Tessa Dobrinski (22:45.4) rounded out the top group at sixth and seventh.
As a team, the Tribe paced the 17-team field with 16 points ahead of second-place Lynchburg (54).
Freshman
Caroline Jones, 11th at 23:00.7, and sophomore
Annika Griggs, 13th at 23:06.9, gave the Tribe eight runners in the top 13.
