NEWPORT NEW, Va. – William & Mary men's cross country won the Christopher Newport Regional Preview on Friday evening at the Lee Hall Mansion Course.
The Tribe placed three among the top five to pick up the team title in the 20-team field with 35 points. Lynchburg was second at 46 points followed by VCU (93) in third.
Sophomore
Tyler Lipps led the Tribe racing to a runner-up finish at the regional preview. He crossed the line in 24:35.5, nearly three seconds ahead a third place.
Sophomores
Jacob Jones and
Sam Pritchard finished fourth and fifth to give the Tribe three of the top five. Jones finished just .1 seconds behind third place, while Pritchard crossed the line at 24:41.7.
The Tribe put three more runners among the top 15. Sophomore
Nate Jennings was 10th (25:13.4) followed by freshman
Luke Henkel (25:27.1) and sophomore
Stephen Larson (25:29.2) in 14th and 15th, respectively.
